Biography

Vahid Bagherpoor Kashani was born in 1979 in the holy city of Mashhad. After receiving his high school diploma in the field of Electricity with a concentration on Power, he entered the university and graduated in the same field of study. Owing to his great interest in studying the Ahul Bait (A.S.) he also entered simultaneously the Divinity School of Ayatollah Musavinejad in his hometown and studied the introductory level under the Grand master Musavinejad and others. Afterward he entered the Divinity School of Grand Ayatollah Khoo ie and studied the levels: "Rasāel, Makāseb, Kefāyeh, and Khārej" under various instructors. While he was studying at the Seminary he also participated in classes with Ayatollah Seyyed Jafar Seyyedan such as "Ma aref, Kalam (theological rhetoric), Philosophy, Erfan (mysticism), Akhlaq (ethics), exegesis of the Quran and Ahadith (narrations)". He also partook in his private classes in critiques of the books: "Bedāyat al-Hekmah" and "Nahāyat al-Hekmah" and a section of "Asfār". Simultaneously he pursued his studies in the Mashhad University of Ferdowsi in Philosophy and Kalam-e-Islami.

Bagherpoor Kashani along with studying also conducted research and taught at the Islamic seminary and university. The fruits of his research are the many books and articles that he has had published.

Description of the Book

The book "Setaregan-e Hedayat" or The Stars of Guidance (A debate on Necessity of Divine proof) is the result of Bagherpoor Kashani s lectures to the many university scholars and students. This book is from the collected lectures transcripts that have been reviewed and edited before being published.

This Book begins with a question from a scholar: "Considering the power of thinking and reasoning possessed by humans, humans can benefit from scientific, religious, experiential, and spiritual books and differentiate and collect those that are in the direction of wisdom and science and believe in a collection of those findings. Hence, why do we need to dedicate ourselves to a specific religion, individual (prophet of God), and book?"

Bagherpoor Kashani with rational reasoning explains the needs of humans for a divine prophet and he considers the sending of a divine prophet as a divine obligatory, because if this was not the case then guidance would be incomplete and humans could not achieve optimal development.

In this debate the subject of proof and level of intellect in differentiation was discussed and the needs of the intellect to profit was defined from three

different angles. Subjects such as the rationale of good and evil, the innate knowledge, and so on were presented. In the end, the audience acknowledged the need of humans for a divine prophet.
